AIDS TO COUNSELING PROBLEMS Afflictions Are often Providential: Psalms 119:67 -- Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word. God will deliver: Psalms 34:19 -- Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. Anxiety Is relieved through prayer: Philippians 4:6 -- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. | Philippians 4:7 -- And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. God cares for you: 1st Peter 5:7 -- Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Assurance Eternal life is promised: John 3:16 -- For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. You can be sure: 1st John 5:13 -- These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God Comfort He will never forsake you: Hebrews 13:5 -- Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. He is our Helper: Hebrews 13:6 -- So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Discouragement Dont give up: Galatians 6:9 -- And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. God will help and strengthen: Isaiah 41:10 -- Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Emptiness Christ can satisfy: Psalms 107:8-9 -- Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. He will fulfill your desires: Psalms 37:4 -- Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Forgiveness Promised: Psalms 32:5 -- I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. Cleansing: 1st John 1:9 -- If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Guilt No condemnation: Romans 8:1 -- There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. No sin too great: Isaiah 1:18 -- Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Loneliness His presence is promised: Hebrews 13:5 -- Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. In His presence is joy: Psalms 16:11 -- Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Suffering Deepens faith: 1st Peter 1:6 -- Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: | 1st Peter 1:7 -- That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ God's grace is sufficient: 2nd Corinthians 12:9 -- And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Temptations How to avoid them: Matthew 26:41 -- Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. ...What causes failure: James 1:13 -- Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: | James 1:14 -- But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Victory Is in Christ: Philippians 4:13 -- I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Seek God's help: 1st Corinthians 10:13 -- There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. Worry God will provide: Philippians 4:19 -- But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Claim His promises: 1st John 5:15 -- And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. |
